【Description】
This is a Yatagan-style bayonet, which was used by the Imperial Japanese Army before the adoption of the Murata rifle bayonet.
The Yatagan-style bayonet was introduced along with firearms around the end of the Edo period and was used as a bayonet for Enfield rifles and Snider rifles during the turbulent late Edo period and early Meiji era.
The handle is stamped with the mark of the Youth School.
The remaining part of the blade is an unsharpened imitation blade and has no edge, so it cannot be used as a weapon. It is a safe item with no illegality and is purely an art object.
The scabbard is made of iron and has rust commensurate with its age, but the locking mechanism functions normally, and there are no problems with insertion and removal. I feel that the condition is not bad.
As it is an old item, please understand that there may be scratches, stains, rust, peeling, discoloration, and dust accumulation in small areas due to aging and long-term storage.
