Fragment of Eshima no Kasumi

Framed in a B5-sized frame with acrylic. Ready to display as is. Kubota Beisen
1852 (Kaei 5) - 1906 (Meiji 39)
Born in Nishikoji, Kyoto (present-day Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture). His given name was Mitsuhiro. His courtesy name was Kanpaku. Studied under Suzuki Shonen. Dedicated himself to the opening of the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting in 1880, along with Kono Bairei. Served as a judge at the 1st Domestic Painting Exhibition and received a bronze prize. The following year, at the 2nd exhibition, he presented his pioneering historical painting Oborozukiyo-zu (Moonlit Night), receiving a silver prize. In 1889 (Meiji 22), he received a gold medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle and traveled to Europe for observation. In 1893 (Meiji 26), he exhibited at the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. In 1894 (Meiji 27), he received a first-class commendation at the 1st Japan Painting Exhibition, and the following year, at the invitation of Okakura Kakuzo, he was appointed to the Ishikawa Prefectural Industrial School.
