This is a summer men's kakobi obi from Kinkentextile Co., Ltd. made of Horaiori fabric, woven with a slightly muted pale greenish-blue color.
The weave creates gaps in the fabric, allowing air to pass through, making it feel cool to the touch. It uses cooling materials such as silk, which has excellent breathability, linen, which feels cool against the skin, and Japanese paper, which has excellent moisture absorption and release properties.
About Horaiori:
Horaiori is a fabric made by Kinkentextile Co., Ltd. in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. It originates from the name Horaiya and began with the inscription Horaiori on the obi's band. Horaiori is one of the Yonezawa textiles, especially used for obi.
Yonezawa textiles are known nationwide as pre-dyed silk fabrics established as an industry by Yozan Uesugi, the lord of the Yonezawa domain, in the late Edo period. It is currently the northernmost textile production area in Japan, developing with both natural and chemical fibers.
It is a beautiful item without any noticeable stains or damage.
