⚫️ Other
This item was brought back from my parents' partially damaged home in Nanao after the Noto earthquake on January 1, 2024. Their house was half-destroyed, and they are building a new one.
This is a large tray, allowing you to carry many dishes at once. It also has finger grips for stable carrying. The tray is primarily vermilion, making various items stand out and suitable for everyday use.
Negoro-nuri is a type of lacquerware primarily made as daily necessities in the medieval period around Negoro-ji temple. Many pieces are coated with vermilion lacquer over a black lacquer undercoat. Over years of use, the black lacquer would show through in patches, which was favored by tea ceremony practitioners. This style intentionally replicates that effect.
