It developed during the Joseon Dynasty, and distinctive styles emerged depending on the region of production, named after their place of origin.

This is a Haeju-ban, made in the Haeju (present-day South Pyongyang) region.

This is not an antique, but a handmade item by a contemporary Korean traditional craftsman.

Ginkgo wood is a lightweight material that is easy to handle and surprisingly sturdily made.
