Fourth Generation Takahashi Rakusai
Born in Shiga Prefecture as the eldest son of the Third Generation Takahashi Rakusai. Real name: Mitsuo.
1973: Invited from Los Angeles, USA, to hold an exhibition. Received a letter of appreciation from the Mayor of Los Angeles. Lectured on the structure and firing methods of climbing kilns and provided practical instruction on the potter's wheel at the University of California.
1976: Succeeded to the title of Fourth Generation Takahashi Rakusai. Awarded the title of Traditional Craftsman by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.
1991: Received the International Art and Culture Award from the Japan Culture Promotion Association.

This is a Shigaraki clay brazier made by the Fourth Generation Takahashi Rakusai.
It has an unusual shape and the inscription Rakusai on the bottom.
The brazier is clean with no cracks, chips, or breaks.
One of the goutoku legs is damaged and has been repaired with glue.

Approximately 1000g of ash is included.
