Chado (Tea Ceremony) Kobukusa with Floral Pattern, Red Tones
A Kobukusa (small silk cloth) is a small cloth, approximately 15cm square, used in tea ceremony (primarily the Urasenke school) when drinking thick matcha or when admiring tea utensils. It is placed under the tea bowl or tea caddy. Made from precious brocades such as Kinran, Donzoko, and Shoha, it not only enhances the beauty of the tea preparation but also serves as a protective mat when handling valuable utensils.
Pattern: Features a traditional design called Kenkō-ga (offering pattern), which is inspired by Buddhist ritual objects such as the Dokko (a vajra-like ritual object) and Hanazara (flower plate).
