Showa Period Hakata Dolls, Pair of Man and Woman (circa 1950s-1960s), 25cm
This is a pair of Hakata dolls, a man and a woman, found during the renovation and organization of a Showa-era residence, along with other items from the same period. They are believed to be from around the 1950s to 1960s, but the exact year of creation is unknown. The gentle expressions and simple, warm demeanor are impressive, creating a work that evokes the atmosphere of the Showa era.
There are no noticeable cracks, chips, or breaks, and the overall condition appears to be good. There was some dust on the surface, but it has been lightly cleaned to avoid damaging the paint. As we are not experts, we have not performed any harsh cleaning for fear of removing the paint. We believe that someone with time and knowledge could restore it to an even cleaner condition.
We are not the original owners and have never displayed or used the dolls ourselves. We have no knowledge of their detailed history or storage conditions, but we will answer any questions to the best of our ability.
*Please check the photos carefully for the condition. Please be aware that there may be oversights not mentioned in the description.
