◇ About the Maker ◇
We sell handmade shinobue flutes made by a father and daughter who have been a shinobue instructor in Shimane Prefecture for about 25 years and are flute makers. We craft shinobue and kagurabue flutes from madake (bamboo) grown along the Shizuma River (formerly Ginzan River), dried for over 3 years.

◇ Important Notes ◇
Shinobue flutes in Do-Re-Mi tuning have 7 holes. The first hole (the one furthest from the embouchure) is only open for pitch adjustment and is not intended for use during performance. (This is a common specification for Do-Re-Mi tuned flutes.)
While some regions may use the first hole on Do-Re-Mi tuned flutes, on shinobue flutes from 1 to 8 hon-choshi (length), the first hole is out of reach.

- A 16g weight is inserted inside the head of the tube for stability adjustment.
- The reflector on the embouchure has been made with wood putty to prevent it from melting even in summer heat.

- Tuned to produce Ro-on (1st octave), Ko-on (2nd octave), and Dai-ko-on (3rd octave) with varying breath strength.
* Due to the use of natural bamboo, there are individual differences in tone and playing feel for each flute.
Those accustomed to flutes from other makers may require some practice to produce the Dai-ko-on range.
Additionally, the sound production may vary depending on the individual product and the player's skill.
