About KATO.B.K. Model Seegers

The basic model was born from meticulously researching and reproducing the felt wrapping method, core material, and other details of timpani mallets owned by Mr. Seegers.

The basic concept is big sound with soft mallets.

With various players having different physiques and playing styles, we aimed to help each musician find the mallet that best suits them. We brainstormed many ideas and created a vast number of prototypes, from which we carefully selected 20 types (3 original + 17 variations) to offer in our lineup.

*The names of the variation models are based on the impressions Mr. Seegers felt during his own trial playing. Please consider them as guidelines rather than strict definitions.

This timpani mallet, with its special head structure, has the excellent advantage of allowing the player to control the clarity of sound, tone color, and even rhythm. The idea for this mallet head has a history of about 150 years, and at that time, materials such as wood, sponge, wool, and leather were used. Currently, wood, cork, leather, and cotton (felt) are mainly used. It continues to evolve, as if it has been used in performances in Central Europe for the past 150 years.
