Description
This instrument is made to the same specifications as the Shishida and Maruyama shinobue.

It has good resonance while being easy to play, and the higher notes come out relatively sharp.

As it is handmade using natural materials, there may be natural variations in shape, pattern, curvature, and minor scratches.

Compared to the shinobue, it has greater volume (it can be quite piercing to the ears) and superior tone quality.

I have been researching physics for a long time and have succeeded in selecting materials that are easy to play and produce good resonance.

I discovered that only bamboo that meets certain conditions can produce sound on its own.

Thickness: Approximately 21.5 mm around the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 49.4 cm.
Mouthpiece size: Approximately 15 mm.
Bamboo hardness: Slightly harder than average.
Thickness: Slightly thinner than average.
Pitch: Slightly higher, around the fifth note.
Range: It cleanly resonates from the lowest note (tsutsumi-on) up to the fifth high note (dai-kōon 5).

This instrument is made based on the standard fingerings and techniques of general shinobue. Please note that regional variations in special fingerings and high note techniques may exist. We recommend confirming these in the comments.

What is Wa-笛 (Wafue)?
Wafue is a transverse flute that has been produced by flute makers in Kyoto since the Heian period and passed down throughout Japan.
The traditional form of festival music (ohayashi) and village shrine music (satokagura), which are designated as intangible cultural assets, is the wafue (bamboo flute). (It is a Japanese indigenous transverse flute.)
Characteristics:
It is characterized by the presence of nodes in bamboo such as madake and awadake. It is also called a bamboo flute.
It reached its peak from the mid-Edo period to the Taisho period and spread throughout the country, where it was used in local festival music and village shrine music.
However, it declined from the end of the Taisho period into the Showa period. Around this time, the Shishida brand shinobue became widespread throughout the country, and the difficult-to-play and expensive wafue seemed to lose out to the shinobue.

The origin of the wafue (bamboo flute) is in Kyoto, and the origin of the shinobue is in Tokyo. (Kyoto's bamboo flute, Edo's shinobue) (Dragon's bamboo flute, Lion's shinobue)

There appear to be only a few wafue craftsmen left in Japan. (As it is extremely difficult to make, very few craftsmen can both play and produce them.)
They seem to be quite expensive (around 50,000 yen).
We strive to produce wafue that are as easy to play and resonant as possible, at an affordable price.
Please note that price reductions are not possible.
